Shannon Stone:

H ey guys. Welcome to the podcast, super excited to jump into this episode today.

Shannon Stone:

Why your attitude determines your altitude in business. You might be wondering this doesn't sound like sales stuff or marketing stuff or growing your business kind of stuff, which is the usual type of things that I talk about. But I also do know, especially after eight years in business, there are other things at play that help us to achieve the goals that we want, or how we feel about those goals or in that journey to achieving that goals, and this is one of those things. Now, your attitude determining your altitude is something that I learned through David Nagel, who has an awesome podcast called the Successful Mind podcast, and it's one of the few mindset-y type podcasts that I actually listen to because it just makes sense and I love the stories. I love David and the way that he shares things and just a real honest type of guy. I feel like someone very wholesome, and I love very wholesome content, like very real people but also doing really incredible things as well. So I love this that I've learned from David, especially about your attitude determining your altitude, because I know from firsthand experience when I check my attitude, like I'm always really a positive person, but we all have our times where there's certain ways that we just start thinking about things I think in ways that don't serve us, and when I have made sure to check my attitude, I have seen the positive ripple effect come from it because the way your attitude is, it really does seep into everything that you do and I do believe you get back what you give out, and so I believe that to be a true story and I do think, if we talk about this in a really practical sense, if you're always thinking that in your business things just don't work out or it's not worth doing your marketing, or if you're thinking about investing in something and it's like, oh, I hope this isn't going to be another waste of money or waste of time, or even with your team, maybe saying things like, oh, it's just easier for me to do this than to even tell them to do this.

Shannon Stone:

Or maybe someone is like booking a call and you're like, oh, they're never going to sign up. I already checked out what they do, you know whatever it might be. So if we're thinking about things this way, I think you're going to get back exactly how you're thinking about it, and so you know it's like we can think about it in a good way. We can think about it in a negative way. Maybe it doesn't even influence the result, but it does influence. I think it does influence the result to some degree, along with the other practical things. But if you can think about it and feel better about your attitude, no matter what happens, then why wouldn't you choose that path? So could you, instead of thinking about things of you know what they don't work out, this person's never going to sign up, this is going to be a waste of my time. It's not worth doing my marketing? Instead of thinking like that, what if you started to think like opportunities. Everywhere. People want to work with me. I am doing so well in my business. So what if you start talking to yourself in really positive ways and check your attitude, because it really does help you? I think, to go much further.

Shannon Stone:

When you get to the end of the day, you're like, oh my God, I did nothing today Versus here's actually what I got done today. You know, it can come down to the little micro moments that happen day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute, that really influence so much. It's like if you always think you got nothing done, how are you gonna approach the next day? You're probably gonna approach it in a really negative way and couple this with actual practical things. If you genuinely felt like you got nothing done At the end of the day, what could you do to make sure that tomorrow is even better? Do you need to have Three top priorities that you do at the start of the day? Do you have to do your highest and best activities first and foremost, like eat the frog? If you know that concept About doing those first before you get into anything else. Like you can couple it with the practical things, but I think the baseline of it. If you're not even willing to check your attitude and put it into a positive place, you're probably not even going to put the practical things in place to help support you anyway.

Shannon Stone:

The last thing I will say with this is that if this is like making sense to you, like, yeah, I do need to check my attitude, because I do often look at parts of my business like they're not working or it's not worth me doing this, or you know, I'm gonna send out another proposal and they're gonna ghost me like whatever the dialogue is that's coming up for you, if you're realizing that, yeah, actually maybe this isn't quite helping me, this isn't quite serving me, I think a few things that you can do. One is to find the evidence you need so you believe that it is all working out for you. So what are the things that you are telling yourself that are more on the negative side? But look for the evidence where actually that isn't the case. You know what I am actually really doing well, because look at all the things I am actually getting done. So look for the practical evidence that it is working out for you and if you have to be really intentional about that, do whatever you need to do so that you can get yourself into a really good space.

Shannon Stone:

Then the other thing I think to do would be how can you get more practical about it? It's like like we shared with Feeling like maybe at the end of the day you feel like you got nothing done. Well, yes, how could we get practical and productive about the next day? Maybe it is Scheduling your days, maybe it is planning the night before, maybe it is having you know your top two to three priorities and they're the first things you do of the day. So couple like this stuff, like the wooey kind of stuff, with the actual practical kind of stuff, and that is the middle ground. I think when we do Only one or the other, we can be missing out, and so that's why I think something like this your attitude, determining your altitude, is often the foundation for everything you add on top of that, because if your attitude is good and you think you know what it is worth me doing, my marketing, it is worth me Telling the team member to do this task, even though it'll take me longer to explain it, they will actually know what to do in future.

Shannon Stone:

Moving forward, or when someone books a call, you can have more of a positive outlook about. Maybe they're either going to become a client of yours or, if they're not a good fit, at least they learn about you and your business and the things you offer and they can refer you to other people. So it starts to switch you into more of looking that opportunities really are everywhere. People do want to work with you. You really are doing so well.

Shannon Stone:

So the only action step I have for you today is to check your attitude and check it constantly until you feel like you're in and I think it's like whenever always in a great positive space. All the time. We can, you know, go into different rabbit holes and things like that. So just check your attitude as often as you need it to and, if you need to add it onto your whiteboard, added onto your whiteboard and try going back into business with a better attitude. Imagine what would happen if you, like you know what I will do my marketing and I will do my marketing this way, even if no one actually Responds to it, all comments on it or engages in it, or it's the same people all the time. If you check your attitude, you'll probably find out that people are seeing it. They're just not engaging, but that is okay. And the clients that are booking calls with you actually did go and read your content, so it is actually worth doing your marketing. So this is where we start to connect the dots and see all of this actually matters, and it's never one thing over the other.

Shannon Stone:

But that is my gift to you today to check your attitude, do it in a really positive way and do check out David's podcast, the successful mind podcast. I listen to it all the time and, like I mentioned, it's one of the few mindset type podcast I do listen to and it is focused more on business anyway. So if you like this podcast, you probably like that one as well. So hope you found this helpful hopefully found this useful, and I will talk to you very, very soon.
